Okay, is it just me, or are nursery rhymes really, really morbid and wrong? Remember "Rock-a-bye Baby?"

"Hush-a-by baby
On the tree top,
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock."

Aw, it starts out all innocent and lovely, aye? Then:

"When the bough breaks,
The cradle will fall,
And down will fall baby
Cradle and all."

WHAT THE HOLY MARACROONERY.

You sing a baby that song. You put the baby in a lovely scene where he's rocking gently on a treetop to the sweet lulling breeze. And then the freaking bough breaks and the baby plummets to his flipping death.

And what about "London Bridge is Falling Down"?

Holy crap, you DO NOT want the London bridge to be falling down.

Then there's "Jack and Jill"

""Jack and Jill
Went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down
And broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after"

He broke his crown. His head. And there was this bit about him having his head wrapped up and Jill smirking and their mother beating her up because of that smirk.

And "Goosey Goosey Gander"

"Goosey goosey gander where shall I wander,
Upstairs, downstairs and in my lady's chamber
There I met an old man who wouldn't say his prayers,
I took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs."

What is wrong with the people who wrote all the nursery rhymes? They are so morbid.
